The VITALS Foundation for Medical Transport Professionals

Our programs

Six programs, chosen by the people who do this work.

The Foundation's general fund supports all six programs. Donations are not directed to an individual program.

  • Education & Training

Scholarships and training support for crews who want to go further in their careers. Confirmed programs include the Safety Management Training Academy (SMTA), the Medical Transport Leadership Institute (MTLI), and LIFT, with additional conference and association programs being added.

  • Mental Health & Resilience Support

Structured peer support and resilience programming for transport crews. Programs can use the Foundation's peer support framework to stand up their own teams, with governance, training, and risk management built in.

  • Industry Research & Data Initiatives

Research, white papers, and data collection that let the industry make decisions from evidence rather than anecdote. Publications are free to any program, air or ground, large operator or single aircraft.

  • Safety Initiatives & Tools

Funding for safety tools, standards work, and training that raises the floor across every transport mode. The measure of success is simple: fewer crews hurt, fewer patients at risk.

  • Recognition & Peer-Led Advocacy

Awards, recognition, and peer-led advocacy that put transport professionals in front of the decisions that affect them. Led by people inside the industry, not on their behalf.

  • LODD Dependents Grants

When a crew member is lost in the line of duty, their family should not be left to sort out the aftermath alone. LODD dependents grants provide direct support during the crisis and in the long stretch afterward.
